University students

The University of Melbourne's wireless network for students is UniWireless. This technology enables two or more computers to communicate using standard network protocols, but without network cabling.

To access UniWireless you will need your student portal username and password and a portable computing device (e.g., laptop with a wireless card/built-in, iPhone, iPad, etc).

Connecting to UniWireless

UniWireless network selectionSelect UniWireless on your device from the available wireless networks, input your username and password when prompted. If prompted, press "Trust" to verify the certificate. You can then access the Internet using the UniWireless network.

Alternatively, you may set up your device using the appropriate settings.

UniWireless is available everywhere on campus.

If you are having trouble with connecting to Wi-Fi on campus, here is a handy document that contains some quick fixes. If the problems persist, it would be best to come down to a Student IT helpdesk, as Wi-Fi issues are best sorted out in person. We're located in the ERC, Giblin Eunson and Baillieu libraries during library hours.

The Connect2UoM network does not provide internet access; this network can be used to run Cloudpath Express, a program that can help with connectivity issues to the other networks.
